What Differentiates a Great Hostel From an Average Hostel

Hostel is slowly achieving the title as one of the best accommodation options of today. Because it gives travelers the opportunity to meet strangers and new faces easily, it has become the top pick of most solo travelers and backpackers. In the event that you plan to stay in a hostel anytime soon, here are some of the things that would differentiate a great hostel from an average one:

·         A bar with real great drinks
Most hostels offer bars for where their guests can enjoy, socialize and hang out. At times, there are bartenders while others only have a refrigerator where you can get drinks and stuff. Well, a great hostel has it all—a decent size bar, a bartender and plenty of types of beer, ranging from cheap and local beer to imported ones. If you are a woman, then you may wish to look for hostels with bars that offer wide range of cocktails. The best hostels also have the perfect location for their bars—on a rooftop or outside in their tended harden.

·         A great hangout space
In addition to a bra, the hostel should also have a common space where their guests can relax, have fun and meet new people without any alcohol involved in the equation. The bar should not only be the common area in the hostel. The other common area should have a wide and open space with plenty of tables, chairs and couches. The hostel should offer plenty of choices to eat, write, read, sit down and entertain themselves. This corner is perfect for those people who do not drink because contrary to popular belief, not all travelers drink.

·         A full set breakfast
When you take a look at the website of most hostels, you would often see these two words “free breakfast”. For sure, people would love anything free, right? Well, that is not the case in most hostels. This is because some of the breakfast options of most hostels are quite limited and might not even give you the fuel you need to start your day. A great hostel offers a full set breakfast that will satisfy your cravings.

·         Strong Wifi Connection
We all know that you are not traveling just to get some good wifi but most travelers would surely wish to keep in touch with their family and friends back home and the best way to do that is through the Internet.

Choosing a good hostel is the most complicated trick in the traveler’s book. But with some research and by keeping the differences mentioned above in mind, you are rest assured that you can find your way to the best hostel that you can ever stay in.

Ultimate Packing Guide 2016

One of the struggles we are facing whenever we are travelling is fitting everything we need in a three days or so in one medium sized suitcase. It’s very difficult to decide if which is the most essential items to pack especially if you have more than 3 favorite sweater and scarf. Not to mention, you need to have matching shoes and bags to go along with your outfit. Thank God to airport’s baggage weight limits, you won’t be certainly bringing your entire closet in your vacation. The key is to pack lightly and wisely.

Don’t bring your entire beauty regimen. Your accommodation would most likely provide you with a decent soap and shampoo so there’s no need for you to bring your own. Makeup? Well since you can’t go out barefaced, sure bring some but not the entire 5kg kit. Just bring the basics like sunscreen lotion and your exotic moisturizer which you can’t find in just any Watson’s store.

Don’t pack clothes more than you’ll need. Schedule your outfits and try them on one by one before finalizing it to your suitcase. Bring a maximum of two shoes, a close shoes that can go from chic to formal, and an open sandals to let your feet breathe once in a while. Avoid bulky items such as leather jackets or high heeled boots, unless you’re going on a winter wonderland destination.

Don’t attempt to pack your authentic jewelries on your suitcase. In fact, don’t bring them to your trip at all. You cannot entrust your precious diamond necklace travelling by itself on the comforts of your suitcase. Remember that theft in the airport is very common. If you must bring them, then put them in a safe spot in your hand carry. This will keep your mind at piece that your expensive jewelry is at your side all the time.

Avoid bringing unnecessary gadgets which you think you may not use. A bulky SLR camera and a tripod will took up huge space in your suitcase. In case you want to take superb pictures, you can just rely on your smartphone or a slick compact camera. Invest yourself in one of those trendy portable WiFi so that you’ll stay connected no matter what part of the globe you are.

Last but not the least, don’t pack things which you can eventually buy there. Say for example, packing too much food items such as chips, energy bar, and bottled water. Yes, we get it. You don’t want to starve in the middle of your trip. But if you’re riding an airplane or a ferry, pretty sure they offer food services. Even busses who are strict with their schedule makes it a point to stop on diners to feed their hungry passengers. Guidebooks are also helpful when travelling to an unfamiliar place, but don’t you think it’s more interesting if you’ll let the locals guide you? In addition, you can download apps or google those questions you have in mind instead of bringing a bulky book.

The Different Ways To Carry Money Overseas

Before you leave for your next trip, please take a moment to think about how you must properly carry your money and your other valuables. It is never easy to carry huge amounts of money when traveling and it can also be dangerous for you too. If you wish to stay safe throughout the entire trip, it is highly recommended that you know the ways on how to carry money abroad and these are as follows:

·         Debit Card
If you do not wish to carry hard cash abroad, then  a debit card is one of your best bets. You can use the old debit card that you use at home when traveling abroad. This is one of the hassles-free ways to carry money abroad since you do not have to get a new card but there are some precautions that you must know about. It is best that you change your PIN code before traveling so that you can protect your hard earned money from scammers and identity thieves.
·         Credit card
This is the most favorite option that travelers love to use. Just like debit cards, credit cards will work in whatever country you are in. Just make sure that you will be shopping at places and staying in establishments that accepts credit cards as payments. However, you should only use credit cards in reliable and famous shopping places. If not, you will be at great risk pf identity theft. There are also some countries who are known to be high risk for this type of theft so you would have to change or cancel your card after your visit to one of those countries.
·         Traveler’s cheque
This is the most commonly used way of carrying money abroad before but not all establishments accept this now. According to experts, this is also the best way to enjoy the best conversation rates but the harsh reality is that it is no longer widely accepted so you have to keep that in mind. If you plan to use traveler’s cheque, it is recommended that you check in with the establishment first.
·         Cash
Of course, this is the most convenient but is also the riskiest ways of carrying money abroad. All establishments accept cards. However, you have to exchange your cash so that you can use it in a  foreign country so it is vulnerable to fluctuations in the exchange rate.

If you wish to stay safe when traveling, it is recommended that you know how to properly cash when you are traveling. Keeping your valuables safe and protected is the best way to ensure your safety. Because of this, you have to keep in mind the things mentioned above.

Four Basic Rules of Traveling on A Budget

Many of us wish to see the world but sadly, not all of us have the luxury of time and money to travel far and wide. If you are one of these people, you will be happy to know that there are many ways on how you can travel and enjoy what the world has to offer even on a tight budget and these are as follows:

·         Travel with buddies.
The best way to save money when traveling is to travel in groups. There are many hotels, museums and activities that offer good deals for people who travel in groups. In addition to that, you can be able to divide the price that you have to pay for many people.

·         Be flexible.
Flexibility will surely bring you a long way. There are actually many ways on how being flexible can help you save money when traveling. For one, it can help you save money on airfare because you are free to choose where you should land, whether you should have a connecting or a direct flight, when you should book and many more. Additionally, you can be able to choose to travel during off peak season when all of the accommodation, activities and even the transportation are offered at lower rates. If you are flexible enough to stay in the city for longer period of time, you can even have the luxury of time to stay in your destination longer and you can enjoy more of the destination’s culture and tradition while saving money at the same time.

·         Slow down.
When you have limited time, it will be impossible for you to enjoy everything there is to enjoy in the city. As a result, you would have to book another flight or another trip just to go back and enjoy the entire experience. That would be more expensive, right? If you try to cram everything in one trip, you will have to shell out too much money. The only way to enjoy everything without shelling out big bucks is to slow down and to really enjoy the amazing places that you will visit.

·         Don’t be loyal all the time.
Many people think that the best way to save money is to be loyal to one airline, hotel or travel agency. While this can be true, there are some times when being disloyal will help you reap lots of benefits. It is always best that you shop around first so you could be able to accurately compare the prices and rates of your hotel choices.

There are lots of ways on how to save money when traveling but the things mentioned above are some of the basic things that you must keep in mind if you wish to travel the world in the cheapest way possible.
