Viral and
bacterial infection are the souvenirs you don’t want to keep after a vacation.
You should practice precautions to protect yourself from acquiring illness when
travelling. Take care of yourself. How are you supposed to enjoy a week-long vacation in Maldives
or Italy if your body is riddled with illness?
Drink a lot of tap water and eat foods washed from tap
water. There
are certain places wherein tap waters aren’t certainly designed for human
consumption. Developing countries and some parts in Asia don’t have a unique
filtering water system to make it safe for ingestion. So, if unsure about the
quality of tap waters, it’s better to invest on bottled waters for the meantime
when you’re away from home. If you prefer eating fresh vegetable salad, ensure
that the restaurant is sanitary. Remember that unclean water can easily cause
upset stomach and loose motions.
Rummage in backseat pockets of public transportations. If you think that airplanes and busses are frequently cleaned and
disinfected, then you got it all wrong. These public transportations are always
busy carrying passports from one point to another with a strict schedule to
conform. Backseat pockets are the filthiest. Make it a habit to spring alcohol
spray or antibacterial wipes and perform a quick sterilization not only to your
backseat pocket but also in the entire seat.
Indulge on local street foods and staple restaurants
without further research. Don’t get too excited to
experience local cuisines. Make sure that a certain food establishment is not
only known for serving delicious foods, it should have a reputation for being
clean. Do a little research and read some reviews to find out if previous
customers had a filthy encounter with this restaurant.
Try to avoid getting jacked-up in too much caffeine. Some of you are guilty in indulging in too much coffee, whether it’s
gourmet or straight out of a sachet. However, try to limit down your caffeine
intake when you’re travelling especially if it’s in a different time zone.
Aside from a natural diuretic, coffee is known to increase bowel movements that
gives you an urge to seek for comfort rooms. It can also alter your sleeping
pattern.
Don’t have enough sleep. “I’m
in a vacation, there’s no work tomorrow, and I’ll stay up and
party all night”. Some of you are guilty of having this kind of attitude.
Well, lack of sleep is one sure way of ruining your vacation. It suppresses your
mood making you want to stay in bed the whole day rather than explore the city
of Paris. Sleepless nights and alcohol can make you susceptible to illness.
Skip immunizations and vitamins. When visiting a country that has an epidemic going on, you should
take precautions by having immunizations to protect you from acquiring it.
Don’t rely on your immune system alone. If you know beforehand that your
immunity sucks, boost it by taking some vitamins. Don’t forget to bring your
maintenance medication if you have any.
