Things to Try on Your Visit to Ireland

Visit Ireland’s Oldest Operational Lighthouse

Ireland’s oldest operational lighthouse, and actually one of the world’s oldest lighthouses full stop, Hook, is well worth a visit, and can be found in picturesque Wexford. The existing lighthouse tower dates all the way back to the 12th century, and some kind of beacon has existed on the site since the 5th century. Take the guided tour, and you’ll have the chance to get to grips with history in action.

Discover Ireland’s Past at Bunratty Castle

Bunratty Castle is one of the most complete and authentic medieval fortresses that can be found in Ireland. Built in 1425, this fortress still contains art, furnishings, and tapestries from that period, and it’s a must visit for all history buffs on a trip to the Emerald Isle. The castle also regularly serves up medieval banquets in the evening time, and so it’s a wonderful place to have a unique experience while listening to harp music and sipping on mead.

See the Largest Stalactite in the Northern Hemisphere

As you descend into Doolin Cave, you will leave the contemporary world as you know it behind you, and have the opportunity to explore a world from 350 million years ago. In fact, because this cave contains the largest hanging stalactite in the whole of the northern hemisphere, it’s one of the most exciting cave experiences anywhere. The stalactite is an impressive 7.3 metres in length, and it weighs more than ten tonnes. Below the stalactite, there is a glimmering pond where you can see its reflection.

Discover Ancient Treasures at the Hunt Museum

If you find yourself in Limerick on a rainy day and you aren’t sure what to do, a trip to the Hunt Museum is bound to be rewarding. This museum is the home of the personal collection of the Hunt Family, and we particularly like it because there is so much diversity within the collection that there is bound to be something that grabs your attention. In the collection of around 2500 pieces, you will find paintings by Picasso, artefacts from Stone Age Ireland, and even dresses by Irish designers.

Watch a Spinning Demo at the Sheep & Wool Centre

As you meander around Ireland’s countryside, you will soon notice that there are many sheep who live on this land, and this means that there’s a huge wool and textile industry in the country. If you’d really like to get to grips with this, the Sheep & Wool Centre in Connemara is the place to be. At this museum, you can follow the process from shearing to yarn, and you can even see live demonstrations of sheep being sheared, and yarn being spun.

When in Ireland

Get Back to Nature in Connemara National Park

Connemara National Park is one of only six national parks in all of Ireland, and we think it’s the ultimate place for nature lovers in the country. In this park, you’ll find almost 3000 hectares of mountains, heaths, bogs, grasslands, and woodlands. Head to the visitor centre, and you’ll discover a number of trails for all abilities. If you manage to climb to the top of 400 metre high Diamond Hill, you’ll discover views of distant islands as well as Kylemore Abbey.

Have a Glamping Experience at the Wild Atlantic Camp

There are certainly enough camping sites dotted around Ireland for you to have a great camping experience, but if you are still on the fence about camping and you’d like to dip your toe in with some glamping, you have this option at the Wild Atlantic Camp in Donegal. No tents are involved at all, and you get to stay in a heated wooden pod, which is just luxurious enough to feel like you are roughing it, but it’s still out there in the wilderness.

Listen to Some Smooth Sounds at Cork Jazz Festival

When you’ve heard just about as much of the Irish fiddle as you can handle, you might be interested in listening to some of the smoother sounds of jazz music, and the annual Cork Jazz Festival offers the perfect opportunity for this. This is Ireland’s premier jazz festival, and it takes place annually at the end of October. Hundreds of musicians are attracted to the festival each year, and there are concerts in city venues as well as on the streets. Will you be part of it?

Cheer on Locals at The Liffey Swim

The Liffey is the main river that intersects Dublin, and each year in August there are hundreds of brave souls who take part in the Liffey Swim, a race across the river in the open waters. There are races for men and women, as singles and in teams. As the temperature of the river water is rarely very warm, the competitors need as much encouragement as they can possibly get. The atmosphere on the riverside on race day is incredible, so why not join in with the fun, and cheer on the brave souls in the water?

Eat Fresh Seafood at Oscar’s in Galway

Ireland is surrounded by water, and so it should come as no surprise that Ireland offers some of the very best seafood in the world. If you are on the hunt for a delicious seafood dinner to remember, trust us when we tell you that Oscar’s in Galway is the place to be. This charming seafood bistro has won numerous awards with a menu that changes with the seasonality of ingredients. The Clare Island salmon tartar is a particular highlight, and the catch of the day never disappoints.

Spending Wisely While Traveling

Thinking of going abroad to see and experience beautiful places? Do you want to experience cruising on the ocean? They only mean one thing, they are COSTLY. Spending too much on a vacation is not very practical and it is a big issue for most people who are on a tight budget. Don’t let it stop you from experiencing these things. Start planning and budget your vacation. Go out, see the world without having regrets and overspending.
Plan
While on a vacation, think of the things that you want to do and where do you want to go. Have time to think. Your time depends on you. Plan your days, know how to use your time and money.
We sometimes say that the money that we have on our trip is more than enough than what we planned. But sometimes we spend more due to unavoidable circumstances. Stick to your plan. Think of your budget.

Bring only the things that you need most
Having minimal things in your suitcase means it is easier to carry it. If you have a lighter pack it means that you don’t need the help of others to do it for you. You do not need to pay the hotel staff to carry your suitcase. You do not need to pay extra to the hotel laundry service. You are mobile, you can do everything especially with transportation. You can choose to walk if you want to save money.

Don’t be choosy
Avoid eating in an expensive restaurant. Try the local eateries. It is very tempting to taste the cuisine of the region but it might cost you a lot. Have a large breakfast, this is the most important part of the meal. It will give you enough energy to have sightseeing. Lunch could be light. You can have some sandwiches or even a light meal to satisfy your hunger. Always make sure that you have foods or snacks in your bag in case you feel hungry. At the end of the day, you could have your dinner at the hotel or a local restaurant to talk about your adventure.

Never ask for hotel services
The more you ask for hotel services, the more you pay on top of your fee. Learn the hotel’s amenities and fees.

Avoid using credit or debit cards

Using credit or debit cards, they may encourage you to spend more. Using cash is the best way to stick to your plan. You can see how much you already spent. Keep some cash also for emergency purposes.

Clothes That You Should Not Wear While Traveling

Always having a problem what to wear on a trip? Already decided what to wear? Are your clothes comfortable and suitable to the place where you are traveling? Well, safety is the word that we need to keep in our minds. We should wear proper clothes to avoid any inconvenience or any unavoidable circumstances during our trip. Let’s check what clothes we should not wear while traveling.

Bare feet
You are not at home to do this habit. You are a traveler; you are on the public. Make sure to have something on your feet while traveling. Bare feet are not nice to see especially on a plane.

Jerseys
Likes supporting your favorite football or basketball team? Wearing your favorite team’s name look awkward. Just a suggestion, try to wear a hat with your favorite team’s name embroidered on it instead.

Fanny packs
Be fashionable. You are not a vendor on the street to wear them. Make sure you look presentable and should look like a tourist.

Flip flops
They are not meant for traveling. Try to wear secured sandals instead. Keep yourself clean as you travel.

Shorts
Airports are dirty. Protect yourself from dirt. Shorts can make you cold as airports and airplanes are fully air conditioned. Keep yourself warm. Wear your jeans!

Oversized coat
Imagine the size of the coat plus your luggage? It will only take up a lot of room and it will only make your life harder as you carry them. Try to bring one that can make you feel comfortable and warm.

Pajamas
Pajamas are only to be worn on bed. You are not at home. Wear them when you are only at home.

Expensive jewelries
Before you can get inside the plane, you should go through several checkups. Think of the metal detectors. It will be very much disturbing if you keep on undoing them and putting them back on again every time you enter the detectors.

Shoes
Never wear high heels or stilettos while on a travel. Airports are huge. It may require you to walk or run long distances to gates. Forget stilettos, wear comfortable shoes. You can have many options if you want to have a comfortable trip.

Seductive clothes
Make sure you wear proper clothes. Wearing seductive clothes may be disturbing to the public. Try to ask yourself and look at the mirror. Am I wearing proper clothes?

Strong perfumes
Avoid wearing strong perfumes. Respect passengers on board. They might be suffering from allergies.

Be Blown Away by India's Best Kept Natural Treasures

Jog Waterfalls of Karnataka

There is nothing quite as magical as visiting a stunning waterfall in nature, and India has no shortage of these. One of the most impressive of them all has to be the Jog Waterfalls, which can be found in the state of Karnataka. In fact, this is the second highest plunge waterfall in the whole country, with a height of 253 metres. It’s a great idea to visit on a clear day in the rainy season where the water really thunders through the falls and you might even be lucky enough to spot a rainbow.

Mountain Passes of Ladakh

If you fancy yourself as something of an adventurer, you absolutely need to visit the Ladakh region in the north of the country, which is also known as the Land of the Passes. These mountain passes are sometimes inaccessible because of snowfall, but you should have no problem motoring through them in the spring and summer months. We particularly love the Chang-La Pass, which is one of the highest mountain passes in the whole world, from which you’ll experience killer views. And there is a hot tea stall there to refresh yourself!

Mehrangarh Fort

One of the highlights of visiting the blue city of Jodhpur has to be a trip to the incomparable Mehrangarh Fort, a fortress that stands majestically on a rocky hill, and that can be seen from all over the city. This fort dates way back to the 15th century, and inside you can find seven ornately decorated palaces. There is also a museum inside with many stunning objects, including a collection of fine and applied arts from the Mughal period, beautiful armoury, a turban gallery, a paintings gallery, and more besides.

Valley of Flowers

Some of the landscapes you will find in India are beyond beautiful, and never is this more apparent than when you visit the Valley of Flowers National Park in the northern state of Uttarakhand. The Valley of Flowers in a high altitude Himalayan valley, which is home to a beautiful array of alpine plants and flowers. If you don’t mind a challenging trek, this could be the place for you. And the best time to visit is between July and September, just after the monsoon season when the flowers are in full bloom.

Chitrakot Waterfall

We think that one of the most pleasant things you can do on a free day is a visit a beautiful waterfall, and one of the most stunning falls in India is the Chitrakot Waterfall, located in the under visited state of Chhattisgarh. While the height of the falls in one 29 metres, it’s the widest waterfall in the whole country, making it look truly unique. It is often called the Niagara Falls of India, and it is best visited in the Monsoon season when the water really gushes through the falls.

Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas is A Paradise Worth Visiting

Considered by many to be the most beautiful beach in the entire Dominican Republic, Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas is without a doubt one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean.

It isn’t for no reason that Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas has earned the reputation of being the most magnificent beach in the Dominican Republic. This is primarily because it is in fact the largest and one of the most natural and remote beaches in the country.

Named after the eagles that had taken refuge in the area, Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas is situated inside the Jaragua National Park, which is one of the largest and most important nature preserves in the Dominican Republic. The beach is a protected part of the island’s unique tourist attraction that eco-tourists will especially enjoy, as it would seem to have been established specifically for them.

The unique virgin beach is home to many endemic species of animal and plant life, including the rhinoceros iguana, along with a wide diversity of endemic birds, and many exotic cacti. Over 130 bird species call Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas home.

The entire region and in particular this beach are the definition of unspoiled paradise. Go on, be an explorer for a day at Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas. As the crown jewel of beaches on the Jaragua peninsula, this spectacular, seemingly endless beach will definitely take your breath away with its amazing white sands and crystal clear turquoise waters.

The natural beach has a thick sprawling dry forest with an abundance of trees and vegetation growing in the sand, just enough to provide shade during a hot day. The vegetation comprises mainly of cactus and other desert plants. A delightful wind keeps the sun’s heat at bay. To cool off further, take a dip inside the sparkling water with its beautiful blue-green gem colors.

Visitors will need a sturdy car to use the official dirt roads in the national park leading right up to the beach. The most pristine of Dominican beaches, it is also one of the most challenging to get to – although getting there is half the adventure. But the payoff is out of this world.

This natural wonder is a relaxing yet stunning sunny hangout. It is possible to go snorkeling as well as camp on the beach. You can obtain camping supplies from the town of Pedernales. Carry plenty of water, and because there are no restaurants in the area, it would be wise to carry a packed lunch if you want to enjoy a full day out in the sun.

Tucked away within a much quieter section of the Dominican Republic, Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas offers visitors an angelic enclave. If you are looking to get off the beaten beach path, then this beach is your best bet. A welcome respite from the lovely yet typically crowded big city beach spots such as those of Punta Cana, Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas will help you avoid the hoards of holidaymakers.

The Magnificent Florence

No one who visits Florence is ever disappointed.  It is an amazing city and is also the birthplace of the Renaissance.  Set in the heart of Tuscany, Florence is the city that led Western Europe out of the darkness of the middle ages and into the light: a rebirth, a renaissance.  There's more artwork in this small and easily navigable city than you can possibly see in one day, but it's worth a try.

There are frequent trains from Roma Termini to Firenze Santa Maria Novella, the train station that is within walking distance of the main tourist area in Florence.  The fastest trains take just an hour and a half, so if you leave Rome early in the morning, you will be able to spend a full day in Florence.

There are so many other museums in Florence!  The National Museum of Bargello has sculptures by Donatello, Michelangelo, and others; the Accademia Gallery houses one of the most famous sculptures in the word, David by Michelangelo.

The other important church in Florence is San Croce.  This church contains huge tombs of well-known people of the Renaissance, like Dante, Galileo, Machiavelli, Michelangelo, and many others.

There are several other churches, like Santa Maria Novella and San Lorenzo, but let's move on to some other sites in Florence.

If you don't want to wait in line to see Michelangelo's original "David" in the Accademia Gallery, then head over to the Palazzo Vecchio.  This is a beautiful palace and a copy of "David" sits in front of the main door, the original location of the statue (the original was moved indoors to protect it from the elements).  Inside the Palazzo are many works of art including another sculpture by Michelangelo called "Genio della Vittoria."

Palazzo Vecchio, which means "Old Palace" in Italian, and the nearby Ponte Vecchio is the oldest and most famous bridge over the Arno River, and one of the few to survive World War II.  The bridge is lined with shops, most of which have traditionally been jewelry shops since the time of the Medici family which ruled Florence during the Renaissance.

There are so many other fantastic places to visit in Tuscany like Arezzo, Fiesole, Lucca, Lucignano, Pisa, San Gimignano, Siena and many others.  Include them in your list.

There are Just Too Many Activities to Try

Go Strawberry Picking in Asuka

Asuka Village in the Nara region of Japan is a place to experience the quiet of the Japanese countryside, but if you want some more active days in the area, it’s possible to go strawberry picking. The Strawberry Farm Haru grows nothing but plump, sweet, and delicious Asuka Ruby strawberries. You are invited to pick for one hour, and you can eat as many strawberries as you want during that time, so make sure not to have a heavy lunch beforehand.

Join in the Gion Matsuri Celebrations

Gion Matsuri is an annual festival that takes place across the entire month of July in Kyoto, and it is one of the most beloved festivals in all of Japan. The highlight of the festival is the absolutely huge selection of floats that depict scenes from Chinese and Japanese mythological history. These floats can sometimes be two storeys in height so they really dominate the whole city. Throughout the month, there are many parades, and you will hear music all over the streets all day.

Explore Traditional Japanese Dance at Awa Odori

Interested in Japanese dance? Then there is one festival that needs to be right at the top of your Japan “to-do” list, and that’s Awa Odori. This is the largest dance festival in all of Japan, and it attracts around 1.3 million tourists each and every year. It takes place in Tokushima, and groups of choreographed dancers and musicians will parade through the streets in the middle of August. One of the most impressive dances of the festival is the kite dance, which involves lots of dramatic kicks and somersaults.

Indulge in Japanese Comfort Food: Katsu Curry

When you think of countries in the world where you might want to enjoy a piping hot curry, India or Thailand might be top of your list. While Japan might not be as appreciated in the curry stakes, there is still some delicious curry to be had. You might think that Indian Buddhists brought curry to Japan, but actually, it’s a much more recent Japanese dish, and it was brought to Japan by the British following the Second World War. Katsu Curry typically includes succulent breaded chicken and root vegetables in a rich curry sauce. The best place to stop for a heaping bowl of the stuff is Imakatsu in Tokyo.

Less Popular Sites in Japan That Deserves Attention

Lake Ashi

If you are looking for some peace, tranquillity, and natural beauty on your trip to Japan, you should look no further than the stunning Lake Ashi. This crater lake offers superb views of Mount Fuji, the numerous hot springs surrounding the lake, and the abundance of nature in the area. The best way to discover the lake is with a relaxing boat cruise. A trip from one end of the lake to the other takes just 30 minutes and costs 1000 yen.

Public Bath Capital of Japan, Kinosaki

If you are into the hot springs thing, you aren’t going to struggle finding a place to rest your weary muscles in Japan, but the place with the most delightful public baths in the country has to be the town of Kinosaki. Our favourite onsen in the city is called Goshono-yu. This is because the outdoor spring faces a waterfall, and the view is nothing short of stunning. The waters are also said to bring good luck for finding a marriage partner.

Authentic Karaoke Box Experience

A trip to Japan is not a trip to Japan without some ritual humiliation in the form of a late night karaoke session. Tokyo might just be the karaoke capital of the world. Karaoke boxes (private karaoke rooms) can be found in streets close to train stations all over the Japanese capital. Yes, there will be a lot of songs in Japanese, but most will have English classics, so make sure that you brush up on your favourite Elvis and ABBA tracks.

Yakitori

When you need to have a break from eating sushi for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it’s time to switch to some skewers of yakitori. Yakitori is essentially skewers of meat, typically chicken, and they date all the way back to the 17th century in Japan. These days, there are thousands of places where you can enjoy yakitori in Tokyo but we recommend Iseya. This is a down and dirty yakitori shop that’s 80 years old with absolutely no frills. But the flavour is out of this world, and it tastes even better when washed down with a cold beer.

Tidal Whirlpools in Naruto

The Naruto Strait is where the Pacific Ocean meets the inland sea, and the force of the two currents battling against each other creates some really extraordinary whirlpools. In fact, the Naruta whirlpools can reach a diameter of 30 metres, and that makes them the largest whirlpools in the whole world. They only appear twice a day, so make sure you check out the current timings before trekking it to Naruto. Once you are there, it’s easy to see the whirlpools from Naruta Bridge.

Vietnam is for Water Lovers Too!

Take an Overnight Trip on Quan Lan Island

Everybody knows that Ha Long Bay is one of the moist beautiful places to visit in Vietnam, and you should definitely take the time to visit this magical part of the country, but did you know that some of the islands in the bay area habitable and that you can actually stay on some of the islands? Quan  Lan is incredibly picturesque, it has a tiny population, but it’s possible to stay there overnight, so it’s the perfect place for an overnight trip and to experience Ha Long Bay in a different way.

Enjoy Beach Days in Cam Ranh

There is so much to see and do around Vietnam, but if you are a beach lover through and through, you may just want to perch yourself on the finest sandy beach that you can find. If that sounds like you, we can wholeheartedly recommend Cam Ranh. There are miles and miles of unspoiled coast, and yet somehow it isn’t quite on the tourist radar yet. The best thing to do here is splash in the crystal clear water, top up your tan, and eat at seafood shacks on the sand. And what else could you possibly need?

Learn How to Surf in Da Nang

If laying on the beach all day isn’t something that you like to do when you take a vacation, this doesn’t mean that you have to skip Vietnam’s picturesque beach towns altogether. Da Nang is one place along the coast where it’s also possible to take part in exciting activities in the water such as surfing. And it doesn’t matter if you are a total beginner. There are tonnes of surf schools along this stretch of coast when you can rent the equipment and be guided until you’re a surfing pro!

Take a RomanticBoat Ride in the Valley of Love

If you find yourself in Dalat for a few days, and particularly if you are visiting with your partner, be sure to etch out some time to visit the Valley of Love. As the name would suggest, this is a supremely romantic place. The highlight is a huge lake that is surrounded by lush gardens. There are swan peddle boats on the lake, which might be a bit cheesy, but we kind of love them for that reason!

Outdoor Activities You Will Surely Enjoy When in Japan

Hike up Mount Kurama

Japan is a country with gorgeous scenery, which makes it ideal for visitors who love to hike. Hike through the forest of Kurama and you’ll find a bamboo grove, a river, and a cute little waterfall. But if you want to get a little bit breathier, you can have a go at climbing the mountain and up to the Kurama-dera temple. The hike is steep and rugged, so it’s only suitable for people with some kind of fitness level, and the views at the top will be a fantastic reward.

Get Physical and Climb Mount Fuji

If you prefer to do physical activities on your trips away instead of walking around museums for days, Japan offers many outdoor activities. Mount Fuji is the highest mountain peak in Japan, and while that might sound daunting, it’s actually a very manageable climb even for relative hiking and climbing beginners. This is because there are mountain huts on the slopes, and well marked trails and signage. There are four main trails, and some take as little as six hours to ascend.

Nature lovers in Japan – stop what you are doing and find your way to Hakusan National Park immediately. This is one of the most incredible hiking destinations in Japan, with Mount Hakusan providing an epic climbing challenge, and the diversity of flora and fauna around you providing the opportunity to explore the best of Japan’s natural scenery. If you fancy spending a longer expanse of time in the park, you are welcome to pitch a tent at Nanryū Sansō camping ground. It might be wise to do so in the summer months when the weather makes camping a little more comfortable.

Hike From Waterfall to Waterfall in Akame

There is little more delightful and relaxing than taking a dip in a natural pool created by a waterfall. Well, in the town of Akame you won’t just find one waterfall, but a whole bunch of them. It’s here that you’ll find incredible cascades of up to 30 metres in height. Just be aware of the wild salamanders, which also happen to be fond of this corner of Japan as well!

Get a Slice of Nature on the Daibatsu Hiking Course

Japan is a nature lover’s paradise. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of nature and get lost in the forest, the Camp in Hakusan National Park Nature lovers in Japan – stop what you are doing and find your way to Hakusan National Park immediately.
